Sanjog
User Guide

Everything Sanjog does, in one place

This guide walks through every screen in Sanjog — from starting a wedding to sharing an RSVP link with your guests — exactly as the app actually works today. Use the menu to jump to any section.

Getting Started

Sanjog is built around one idea: a single wedding's guests, budget, vendors, checklist, and schedule, shared live between everyone helping plan it — the couple, family, and anyone else you invite. Everything below lives inside one account, and one account can belong to more than one wedding.

Creating an account

On the welcome screen, choose Create account or Sign in, or use Sign in with Apple.

Email & password
Create account asks for first name, last name, email, and password — all four are required. Sign in asks only for email and password.
Sign in with Apple
One tap, using your Apple ID. Apple only shares your name the very first time you ever authorize the app — after that it just signs you back in.

Forgot your password? On the Sign in tab, tap Forgot password? — you'll get a reset link by email. (This only applies to email/password accounts; Apple manages sign-in recovery itself for Sign in with Apple.)

🔒
Note

Your wedding's information is private by default — only people you explicitly invite (see Collaborating & roles) can see it.

Starting a wedding

The first time you sign in with no wedding yet, you'll land on Let's set the scene, with two tabs. Choose Start a wedding and fill in:

  • Bride's name and Groom's name — both required
  • Anand Karaj date — the date of the wedding ceremony itself

Tap Start planning and the app immediately builds out a full wedding week for you:

  • 12 wedding events, pre-named and pre-dated around your Anand Karaj date: Roka, Kurmai, Chunni Chadai, Vatna/Maiyan, Choora & Kalire, Mehndi, Sangeet, Jaggo, Milni, Anand Karaj, Doli, and Reception
  • A full checklist of tasks spread across those events, each with a due date timed relative to your wedding date (e.g. "book a mehndi artist" a couple of months out, "finalize seating" a couple of weeks out)
  • 10 budget categories with starting amounts already allocated — Venue & Catering, Attire & Jewelry, Décor & Florals, Photography & Video, Entertainment, Gurdwara & Langar, Mehndi Artist, Transportation, Gifts, and Misc

Your guest list, vendor list, and transaction history all start completely empty — nothing about your actual guests, vendors, or spending is ever pre-filled.

💡
Tip

Every seeded event name, date, task, and budget amount is a starting point, not a fixed plan — rename, reschedule, or delete anything to match how your wedding actually works.

Joining a wedding with a code

If someone else already started the wedding, choose the Join with a code tab instead and enter the 6-character invite code they shared with you, then tap Join wedding.

You'll get the invite code from whoever's planning — it's generated from Profile → Who has access (see Collaborating & roles). Once you join, you land in that wedding with full collaborator access to everything below.

You can add another wedding to your account at any time — your own or one you're joining — from Profile → Your Weddings → Create or join another.

Home

Home is your wedding's dashboard — a quick-glance summary with shortcuts into everything else.

Countdown card

The big number on Home counts down to your Anand Karaj event specifically, at its 10:00 AM ceremony time — not just any event named similarly, but the one literally named "Anand Karaj" in your event list.

📅
Note

To change the date the countdown is aiming for, edit the Anand Karaj event's date from the Checklist tab — long-press its event card and choose Edit event. The Schedule tab can't change an event's date (see Schedule).

Couple photo

Tap the photo tile next to the countdown to pick a photo from your library. You can pinch, zoom, and drag to frame it exactly how you want before saving — everyone with access to the wedding sees the same photo.

The three stat rings

RingWhat it showsTapping it opens
Checklist completionPercentage of all checklist tasks marked done, across every eventChecklist
Budget usedTotal of every transaction you've logged, as a percentage of your overall wedding budgetBudget
Guests confirmedConfirmed guests out of your total guest count (shown as "N of M," not a percentage)Guests

Up Next

The four soonest-due tasks that aren't done yet, pulled from across every event — not limited to "today." Tap a task's checkbox to mark it done right from Home, or tap the row to jump into Checklist. When everything's done, this section simply says "All caught up — nothing due soon."

The Wedding Events strip

A horizontally scrolling row of cards at the bottom of Home, one per wedding event. Tapping any card opens the full Schedule screen.

Guests

Your full guest list, with RSVP tracking, dietary preferences, and a way for guests to RSVP themselves.

Adding a guest

Tap Add Guest and fill in:

  • Name — required
  • Individual or Group — Group reveals a party-size stepper (2–20 people total)
  • Side — Bride, Shared, or Groom
  • RSVP — Confirmed, Pending, or Declined (new guests start as Pending)
  • Dietary — Vegetarian or Non-vegetarian
  • Attending — a checklist of which wedding events they'll be at
  • Email and Phone — both optional, used for sharing an RSVP link or texting them

Finding & organizing guests

Filter the list to All, Bride's side, or Groom's side. Sort by Name, Party size, Dietary, RSVP status, or Events attending from the sort menu. The header always shows a live count of confirmed, pending, and declined guests.

Guest insights

Below the list, a donut chart cycles through four breakdowns of your guest list — tap the arrows or dots to switch between them:

  • Guests by Side — Bride vs. Groom vs. Shared
  • RSVP Status — Confirmed vs. Pending vs. Declined
  • Dietary Preference — Vegetarian vs. Non-Vegetarian, plus a Not Specified slice for guests with no preference set
  • Events Attending — how many guests are coming to 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4+ events

Sharing an RSVP link

There are two different kinds of link, for two different situations:

Personalized guest linkGeneric signup link
Where to find itA guest's row menu → Share RSVP linkThe link icon at the top of the Guests screen
Who it's forOne specific guest already on your listAnyone — a group chat, your wedding website, a printed invite
What it doesUpdates that guest's existing RSVP, plus-ones, dietary preference, and which events they'll attendSigns the person up as a brand-new guest, asking their name and which side they're joining for first

Any guest still Pending also gets a small message icon on their row — tap it to open a pre-written text-message check-in (with an RSVP link included) through your phone's own Messages app.

Budget

Track what you've budgeted and what you've actually spent, by category.

Categories

Each category has a name and a budget amount. Tap the total-budget card at the top, or any category row, to adjust its amount with a slider (or type an exact number). A category can only be deleted once nothing — no transactions or vendors — is still linked to it.

Transactions

Tap Add Transaction and fill in:

  • Transaction name
  • Category — chosen from your budget categories
  • Amount
  • Status — Paid, Partially paid, Deposit paid, or Pending
  • Paid by — Shared, Groom's family, or Bride's family
  • Receipt — optionally attach a photo or a file (PDF or image)

A transaction's date is set once, when you create it, and can't be changed afterward — the same way a real receipt's date works.

When a category goes over budget

If a transaction pushes a category's spending past what you've allocated to it, Sanjog asks how you'd like to handle it:

  1. Increase Budget — raises that category's (and the wedding's overall) budget by exactly the overage amount.
  2. Pull From Another Category — moves the overage amount out of another category that has enough unused room, leaving your total budget unchanged.

Both options are always offered — if you tap Pull From Another Category and no category actually has enough spare room, Sanjog tells you so at that point.

Budget insights

A cycling donut chart below the transaction list, with four views:

  • Budget by Category — how your total budget is allocated
  • Spent vs. Remaining — turns into Over Budget automatically if you've spent past your total
  • Who's Paying — totals grouped by Shared / Groom's family / Bride's family
  • Spending by Status — totals grouped by Paid / Partially paid / Deposit paid / Pending

Checklist

Every task, grouped by the wedding event it belongs to.

Events own their tasks

Tap an event card to expand it and see its tasks. Every task belongs to exactly one event — you add a task from inside that event's card with the Add task button, and it can't be moved to a different event afterward. Tap What is this? on any event to read a short explanation of that ceremony.

Each task has:

  • Task text
  • Due date (defaults to the event's own date)
  • Assigned to — pick anyone on your wedding's team, or leave it Unassigned

Tap a task's checkbox to mark it done — you'll get a little haptic buzz, a sound, and a confetti burst for the win. Each event card shows its own mini progress bar, and the screen header tracks your overall "N of M tasks done."

Tasks Assigned to Me

If anything is assigned to you specifically, a card at the top of Checklist rounds it all up in one place — sorted by due date, regardless of which event each task belongs to.

Editing or adding an event

Tap New Event, or long-press an existing event card and choose Edit event, to set its name, date, and description. Deleting an event removes every task inside it too.

🗓️
Note

An event's name, date, and description are edited here, on Checklist. Its time, venue, dress code, and setup notes are edited from Schedule instead — see below.

Schedule

The logistics side of your events — where, when, and what to wear — plus a shareable, printable version for your family.

Planning vs. Guest view

Switch between two modes at the top of the screen:

  • Planning — tap any event to edit its time, venue, dress code, and internal setup notes. Each card also shows how many confirmed guests are attending that event.
  • Guest view — a read-only, family-friendly view that swaps the setup notes for the dress code and drops the attendance count — this is what the exported PDF looks like in that mode.

Sharing the schedule

Tap the share icon to export the current view (Planning or Guest) as a nicely formatted PDF you can send to family or print.

Vendors

Keep every vendor's contact details, status, and paperwork in one place.

Tap Add Vendor and fill in:

  • Name
  • Category — the same categories you've set up in Budget, so a vendor and its spending stay connected
  • Status — Researching, Quote pending, Contract signed, Deposit paid, Paid in full, or Confirmed
  • Linked events — which wedding events this vendor is working (e.g. your photographer might be linked to Mehndi, Sangeet, and the Anand Karaj)
  • Email, Phone, Website — all optional
  • Notes

Attach a photo or a file (like a signed contract PDF) to any vendor — tap an attachment afterward to preview it right in the app.

💡
Tip

A brand-new wedding starts with zero vendors — unlike your checklist and budget categories, this list is entirely yours to build.

Collaborating & Roles

A wedding is meant to be planned together. Here's how access works.

Roles

  • Owner — whoever started the wedding. Can invite and remove collaborators, and can permanently delete the wedding.
  • Collaborator — anyone who joins with an invite code. Has full read/write access to guests, budget, vendors, checklist, and schedule, but can't remove other members or delete the wedding.

Inviting someone

Profile Who has access Invite

Generates a 6-character code. Share it however's easiest — text, call, write it down. Whoever you send it to enters it on the Join with a code tab when they sign in (see Joining a wedding). Each code can only be used once; tap New code any time to generate another.

Who has access

This same screen lists everyone currently on the wedding with their role. As the owner, you can tap the remove icon next to any collaborator to revoke their access immediately — they can always be invited back later with a fresh code.

Activity log

Profile → Who has access → Activity Log keeps a running record of who on your team made which changes, so everyone stays in sync about what's already been handled.

Wedding Themes

Pick a color theme for the whole app from Profile → Theme. This is set once per wedding, not per person — everyone with access sees the same look.

Classic (default)
Terracotta & Sage
Pink & Gold
Maroon & Gold
Emerald & Gold
Royal Blue & Silver
Champagne & Blush
Lavender & Silver
Burgundy & Rose Gold
Midnight & Gold

Tapping a theme applies it immediately — no separate save step.

Profile & Account

Everything about your account and your wedding(s) lives in Profile, reached from the gear icon on Home.

Your name

Edit your first and last name — this is the name your collaborators see under "Who has access."

Your Weddings

One account can belong to more than one wedding — your own, plus any you've joined. This section lists them all, grouped into You own and You've joined. Tap a different wedding to switch to it, or tap your active wedding to edit its bride/groom names and Anand Karaj date inline. Tap Create or join another to start or join an additional wedding without leaving your account.

Signing out & deleting

Sign out keeps everything saved — sign back in anytime to pick up where you left off.

Under the Danger Zone:

  • As the owner, Delete Wedding permanently erases every guest, task, budget entry, and vendor for that wedding — for everyone with access. This can't be undone.
  • As a collaborator, Leave Wedding removes just your own access — the wedding continues for everyone else.
  • Delete Account permanently deletes your account and sign-in. Any wedding you own is erased for everyone; weddings you'd only joined are simply left. This can't be undone either.

The Public RSVP Page

When you share an RSVP link (see Guests), it opens a web page — no app or account needed on the guest's end — where they can respond directly.

On that page, a guest can:

  • Choose Joyfully Accept or Regretfully Decline
  • If accepting: specify how many additional guests are joining them, their dietary preference, and which specific events they'll attend
  • If they came from a generic link rather than a personal one, enter their own name and which side of the family they're joining for, first

Once submitted, they'll see a "Thank You" confirmation, and their response appears back in your Guests list automatically — no refreshing or re-syncing needed.

Home Screen Widget

Add the Wedding Countdown widget to your iPhone's Home Screen for a days-to-go count without opening the app.

  1. Long-press an empty area of your Home Screen, then tap the + in the top corner.
  2. Search for Sanjog and choose the small or medium size.
  3. Long-press the placed widget and choose Edit Widget to customize it.

From Edit Widget, you can set:

  • Wedding — which wedding to count down to, if your account belongs to more than one
  • Font Style — Playful, Elegant Script, Modern Rounded, or Classic Serif
  • Text Color — Automatic, White, Black, Cream, or Gold

The widget refreshes automatically whenever you open the app and something's changed — your wedding date, names, or theme.

Privacy & Your Data

Your wedding's data is visible only to you and the collaborators you've explicitly invited. We don't run ads or sell your information. For the full details on what's collected, how it's used, and how guest data specifically works, read our Privacy Policy.
